Purpose of the Post The Central Services Department of Imperial College Union provides the services and resources that underpin the work of all other departments of the Union. Central Services provides marketing, administrative, business systems and facilities management output that plays a key role in cross-departmental task-focused projects. The Marketing & Sales Coordinator is responsible for the production of a range of publicity materials that promote the range of services and the Union offers. They will promote the activities of all departments at the Union, and provide vital marketing support. The position holder will be expected to communicate in line with our brand guidelines and to the strategy put in place by the Marketing & Communications Manager. In addition to general publicity and marketing, the post-holder will be the first point of contact for all sponsorship and media sales activity within the Union. This will include gaining sponsorship for events such as Freshers’ Fair, selling advertising in the Union newspaper, researching new opportunities for income generation through sales and sponsorship and advising Club & Society officers on how to negotiate sponsorship support for their activities.

Responsibilities 1.0

GENERAL DUTIES

1. To develop and ensure a clear, consistent and positive profile for the Union both internally and externally through the coordinated production of the Union’s publicity and communication. 2. T  o assist the financial development of the Union by negotiating beneficial sponsorship arrangements for the major areas of Union activity. 3. To assist the officers and managers of the Union in meeting long term strategic objectives by developing and implementing a communications strategy.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

1. Produce and design publicity materials for the Union’s services – commercial and noncommercial in line with the Union’s communications strategy. 2. Research and utilise new opportunities for income and sponsorship 3. Ensure all communication is in-line with the Union’s brand guidelines

4. T  o assist Clubs & Societies in the production of effective publicity material. 5. T  o generate sponsorship income to support Union events and activities. 6. To be responsible for selling corporate stall space and advertising for the Union’s Freshers Fair, and for Freshers’ Week mailings and publicity. 7. Assist in all marketing activity for large projects as required by the Marketing & Communications Manager.

3.0 OTHER 1. Attend meetings and training events as required. 2. C  omply with Union and College policies, procedures and constitution at all time. 3. Undertake any other duties appropriate for the grade and responsibilities of the post that may from time to time be reasonably requested. 4. H  ave a flexible approach to duties and work and, in particular, adopt a team style with departments and activities across the Union.
